In 1916 Frank G Henry decided to retire from dog breeding. There were many breeders who had Henry dogs that time. But there were only few, who linebred these dogs and saved this line. I wrote about Lloyd Swineford strain of the Henry bloodline and how his impact is important. Earl Tudor took all parts of the bloodline and combine them and linebreed them many years. Thanks to Lloyd Swineford and Earl Tudor we have linebred Henry roots in our dogs pedigrees. Earl Tudor was born in family of Nathaniel and Hattie Tudor on May 14, 1893 in Kentucky. They moved to Oklahoma state then. As many other farmers of that time, Tudor family kept pit bull terriers. These dogs were around Earl all his boyhood life. Earl became known with his Tudor's Jack Swift, linebred Henry dog. That was about 1915. Earl Tudor, Oklahoma Kid, was about 22 years old. Lets look from what combinations Earl began his breeding program. Earl got Tudor's Judge and Tudor's Lizzie from combination of Tudor's Jack Swift ex Black Star. Here is this pedigree.
Here are very rare photos of 2 dogs from 2-nd generation of this pedigree. They were bred by Frank Henry. Henry Plunger, one of Frank last stud dogs. And Hobart Tess, that was owned by T M Kirkpatrick of Hobart, Oklahoma. Kirkpatrick bred his Tess to Plunger to produce Black Star and Tudor's Susie. He kept Black Star and bred her to Frisco Sport. Earl also got Tudor's Jane from Black Star breeding to Frisco Sport. Earl bred Black Star's sister, Tudor's Susie, to Jack Swift to produce Tudor's White Toddy. Then Earl Tudor bought Black Star from Kirkpatrick and bred her to his Jack Swift too.
Next part of the Tudor's Henry "puzzle", is the most famous of Earl Tudor's dogs... Tudor's Black Jack 16xW. He is product of Lloyd Swineford Henry bloods crossed with Black Tige. I wrote about each part of this cross in previous articles: "Lloyd Swineford strain of the Henry bloodline" written by Svetlana Korina "Correct pedigree of Black Tige" written by Svetlana Korina Here is pedigree of Tudor's Black Jack. And just look at COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) of dam and sire in this pedigree.
Black Jack has impressive list of high quality offspring. He is sire of such famous dogs as Black Jack Jr, Supreme, Tudor's Black Star III, Tudor's Wildfire, Tudor's Jack II, Tudor's Black Jack Queen, Hanna's Black Bess, Jack C, Tudor's Buck, Figley's Bob Tail Pat, Daredevil May, Brown's Jack Dampsey, Mites Black Queen, Wichita Dan, Storey's Buddie, Tudor's Star, Tudor's Maggie...
